How the Roblox marketplace fee works

Roblox takes a 30% cut on most Robux transactions inside the platform: gamepasses, developer products, group payouts, and limited resales. A 100 Robux gamepass returns 70 Robux to the seller. A 1,000 Robux dev product nets 700 Robux. The fee is taken at the moment of sale — you never see the 30% in your balance, so it's easy to forget how much it adds up to over a month of sales.

The same fee applies on group payouts. If your group has 10,000 Robux in funds and you pay out all of it, the receiving member's balance only goes up by 7,000 Robux. The Robux that ends up on a member's account is what's eligible for DevEx — not the original group balance.

This calculator multiplies a sale price by a unit count, applies the 30% fee, and converts the post-fee Robux to a DevEx USD equivalent at $0.0035 per Robux. It's the math you need to answer "how much will I actually take home from this pricing?" before publishing.

When to use it

  • Pricing a gamepass. Type a candidate price, multiply by expected sales, see the take. Adjust until the post-fee number is what you'd want.
  • Planning group payouts. See how much Robux each member actually gets so nobody is surprised on the receiving end.
  • Comparing dev products to gamepasses. Both pay the same 30%, but volume math is different. Use units to estimate monthly revenue.

Example

You want to launch a gamepass at 199 Robux and you sell 250 a month. Type 199 and 250. Gross revenue is 49,750 Robux. The 30% fee is 14,925 Robux. Your monthly take is 34,825 Robux, which is $122 in DevEx terms. To clear $500 / month from this pass, you'd need to roughly quadruple sales or raise the price.

FAQ

Is the marketplace fee always 30%?

Yes for the standard developer transactions covered here. Some catalog item categories and limited resales have different rules; check Roblox's developer docs if you're publishing avatar items.

Does Premium change the fee?

No — Premium gives developers and traders certain marketplace privileges, but the fee on sales is the same.

Does the DevEx number assume I'm eligible?

Yes. The DevEx column applies the cashout rate as if the Robux were already eligible. See the DevEx Cashout Calculator for the actual eligibility rules.
